Concerned Bloggers are back again and this month the topic is HIV/AIDS. HIV is a Human Immunodeficiency Virus that can hide for long periods of time in the cells of your body and attack key parts of a persons immune system. AIDS-Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome is the final stage of HIV infection. People at this stage of HIV disease have badly damaged immune systems, which put them at risk for opportunistic infections (OIS). Currently there is no cure for this deadly disease.
Here are some key fast facts that everyone should know and definitely will influence you on knowing your status.
- Gay & Bisexual men of all races are the most severely affected by HIV/AIDS
- 1 million people are living with HIV in the U.S.
- 1 in 5 living with HIV are unaware
